Ajoblanco tells the story of one of the most emblematic Catalan publications of the second half of the 1970s, possibly the one that best reflected a crucial period in our recent history: the Transition and the subsequent disenchantment of those who favored transformation social and political.
Apart from more or less agreeing with the thesis of the magazine, it cannot be denied that Ajoblanco was one of the currents of new air that eroded the status quo of the last years of the Franco regime. Attacked by both the traditional left and the real estate sectors, different groups converged: naturism, drugs, sexual liberation, comics, feminism, ecology, etc. and especially the countercultural current that had been growing since the beginning of the decade and the libertarian movement, revived by the recovery of the CNT. The attempt to bring these two currents together was one of Ajoblanco’s main purposes, an attempt that crystallized in the organization of the Libertarian Days in the summer of 1977.
Produced by Tono Folguera, one of the most active producers in the independent television documentary scene, and made by David Fernández de Castro, a director and screenwriter committed to the critical recovery of the transition, the documentary, which had not yet been seen on any TV , was premiered in Documentary Visions.
After the screening, in addition to the producer and the director, we had the presence of Pepe Ribas and other founding members of Ajoblanco, who subsequently held a conversation with the audience.
