At Visions documentals we have always tried to program documentaries that approach the countercultural phenomenon in our country from different points of view because we understand that the importance of these alternative currents has not always been properly recognized. In our opinion, the most essential thing about this transversal movement was the attempt to transform the consciousness of the individual, and the trigger of this inner transformation was to a large extent drugs, hence the difficulties he has always encountered the account of the countercultural phenomenon. The current influence of this movement is so great that it is hard to believe that many of its proposals, today fully integrated, hardly existed just 50 years ago. But there is something else that has often hovered over the drug culture of the 60s and 70s and that is malevolence and a certain self-destructive drive. «I destroy myself to know that it is me and not all of them» said Artaud.
Pepe Sales, multifaceted artist (singer, writer, painter, poet), victim – like so many others – of AIDS, beyond his imaginative and transgressive work becomes a paradigmatic case of this cursed anti-hero.
«D’Amor i Droga. Pobres, pobres que els donguin pel cul», made by Albert Pla, Lulú Martorell, Judith Farrés and Toti Rovira pays him a well-deserved tribute.
We had the presence of Lulú Martorell, screenwriter and co-director, who presented the documentary and subsequently held a discussion with the audience.
With this documentary we come to the end of this season, next September 8 we will start the fourth season with new documentaries and we hope to continue enjoying your company. Documentary Visions would like to thank everyone who supported us with your assistance, without you this initiative would not have been possible.
On behalf of Cinemas Girona and on my own: Thank you!
